On October 12th, the main forum of the World Marine Equipment Conference 2023 was held in Fuzhou. Qinmin Wang, director of the National E-Government Expert Committee and Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, attended the main forum and delivered a speech. Zuyi Zhou, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, Long Zhao, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, and Yuying Cui, Deputy Director of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference attended the main forum. Baojin Lin, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Fuzhou, Xiangchen Zhang, Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization, and Yongtu Long, Chief Negotiator of China’s WTO Entry made speeches at the scene or via video. The forum was presided over by Ningning Guo, Standing Committee Member and Executive Vice Governor of the Provincial Party Committee. Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Chee Hong Tat, Acting Minister of Transport of Singapore, as well as government department leaders from the central and local governments, well-known experts and scholars, representatives of leading enterprises in the field of maritime equipment also attended the forum.
At the main forum, Ji Zhou, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Jianzhong He, Chairman of the Council of the Chinese Institute of Navigation, Chunrong Xu, Director of the Second Department of Equipment Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Gang Wen, Chairman of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, Charles Dahl, Executive Vice President of Mediterranean Shipping Group S.A, and Yuqun Zeng, chairman of CATL gave keynote speeches. Focusing on the theme of accelerating the construction of a strong shipbuilding country with intelligent manufacturing as the main direction, jointly promoting the innovation and development of marine science and technology, accelerating the development of green ship manufacturing, developing low-carbon shipping and building a new marine ecological civilization, they shared their practical experience and theoretical exploration results, so as to work together to build consensus and boost confidence for building a bigger and stronger marine economy and promoting the building of a strong marine country.
In the meeting, the Fuzhou Initiative was released, proposing to adhere to the leadership of innovation and consolidation of scientific and technological support, adhere to green development and promotion of low-carbon transformation, adhere to coordinated development and building industrial ecology, adhere to openness and cooperation to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, adhere to exchanges and mutual learning, so as to strengthen marine culture, jointly promote high-quality development of the marine equipment industry, promote sustainable marine development, and contribute more wisdom and strength to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
