World Maritime Equipment Conference 2024 Opened in Fuzhou

  On November 15, the World Maritime Equipment Conference 2024 officially opened in Fuzhou. He Baoxiang, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Executive Vice Chairman of the Revolutionary Committee Of the Chinese Kuomintang, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

  He Baoxiang congratulated the conference on its successful opening and extended a warm welcome to all attendees. He noted that President Xi Jinping has emphasized that “building a maritime power is a significant strategic task for realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.” He highlighted that the marine economy has become one of the most dynamic and promising sectors for economic growth in coastal countries and regions. Maritime equipment serves as a vital pillar for accelerating the development of the marine economy and a key driver for promoting its high-quality growth. This conference provides a platform and an opportunity for pragmatic exchanges and cooperation within the global maritime equipment industry. It is a high-level international event for the sector, a stage for fostering consensus on collaborative development, and a window to share stories of China’s maritime endeavors in the new era. He Baoxiang also underscored President Xi Jinping’s significant initiative to “build a maritime community with a shared future,” which offers a Chinese solution for safeguarding maritime peace, maintaining maritime order, and promoting maritime prosperity. He expressed hope that the conference would encourage all participants to join hands in pursuing the blue aspirations and to write a new chapter in international maritime cooperation collectively.

  Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial People’s Congress, attended the conference and delivered a speech. He emphasized that the ocean is a strategic area for high-quality development. President Xi Jinping has placed great importance on maritime development and, during his tenure in Fujian, he proposed the strategic vision of building a “Maritime Fuzhou” and advancing Fujian as a leading province in the marine economy. Over the years, Fujian has upheld this vision, worked tirelessly, and achieved remarkable progress in constructing a “Maritime Fujian,” laying a solid foundation for boosting the marine economy. Zhou Zuyi noted that Fujian will thoroughly study and implement President Xi Jinping’s important remarks on building a maritime power, as well as his key directives during his visit to Fujian. Fujian Province will seize opportunities, leverage its strengths, and tap into its potential to advance marine technology, strengthen marine industries, and promote openness in maritime development, thus building a higher-level “Maritime Fujian” and taking the lead in the new wave of marine economic development. Zhou Zuyi warmly invited attendees to invest, innovate, and establish businesses in Fujian, working together to explore the blue seas and enhance the blue engine of economic growth.

Teng Jiacai, Chairman of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) attended the conference. Keynote speeches were delivered by Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Li Yang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport; Wang Wensheng, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia; Maurice Leroy, former Minister of Cities of France; Zhou Liwei, Vice Governor of Shandong Province; and Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the China-ASEAN Center.

  The opening ceremony was attended by officials from relevant central ministries and commissions, leaders of central enterprises and other provinces, leaders from Fujian Province and Fuzhou City, diplomatic envoys to China, heads of relevant government departments, representatives from domestic and international organizations and institutions in the maritime equipment sector, as well as experts, scholars, and executives from renowned enterprises.

  With the theme “Carrying the Dreams of Humanity to New Horizons,” the Conference emphasizes national strategies and Fujian’s unique advantages, spotlighting key areas in maritime equipment. It prioritizes collaborative innovation across industry and supply chains, fosters industry-academia-research cooperation, facilitates talent exchange, promotes trade matching, and accelerates the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in hotspot areas in maritime equipment. The Conference aims to drive high-end, green, and intelligent innovation in the industry and establish itself as a premier global event in the maritime equipment sector.
